The Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute is a long-established higher education institution in Uzbekistan with a history dating back to 1937. It has traditionally focused on pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.
Recently the institute also offers a Faculty of General Medicine/MBBS-style program, preparing graduates for clinical practice as medical doctors.
The medical degree awarded is equivalent to an MD/MBBS and is generally accepted both nationally and internationally (including recognition by bodies like the Indian National Medical Commission when the requisite exams are passed)
The duration of study for general medicine is typically 6 years, combining academic coursework with practical clinical rotations/internship.
Instruction is often provided in English for international students, which can make the program accessible to a global cohort.
The program aims to build strong foundational medical knowledge, clinical skills, and exposure to healthcare practice, blending traditional medical education principles with a grounding in pharmaceutical sciences and research.
